We're just about ready to bring in the 150 tons of clean rock that will fill this nearly 10 foot hole. With concrete costs running close to $100.00 per yard and the cost of rock at only about $20.00 per ton, the smart (and typical) solution is to fill the hole with rock.
When the rock is graded, covered with plastic, treated for termites, and inspected, the concrete is poured to the top of the notched block, and VOILA! you have a sub-basement as well a basement slab. You would be surprised at what this process doesn't cost, provided you do it right the first time.
The road you see here is planned and situated so that we can spread the 150 tons of rock the humane way- with our skid steer.
